About Father Deston: A native of Fall River, Father Deston is a graduate of that city’s B.M.C. Durfee High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in political science from UMass-Dartmouth and worked for a year as a teacher before entering the seminary. He studied for the priesthood at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md., from which he received a master’s degree in Church history. Continuing his preparation for priestly ministry, he completed a pastoral year at St. Michael Parish in Fall River and then served as a transitional deacon at St. Pius X Parish in South Yarmouth for two years. He remained at St. Pius X Parish after his ordination last spring to serve as parochial vicar.
