Catholic Campaign for Human Development

CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT COLLECTION THIS WEEKEND


Nearly 37 million people in the United States live below the poverty line, and 13 million of those are children. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) works to create lasting solutions to the problem of poverty through real community change. Please donate prayerfully and generously to CCHD at Masses Nov. 22-23 to help those in poverty help themselves.

83 RECEIVE MARIAN MEDAL THIS YEAR

Bishop George W. Coleman awarded Marian Medals to 83 laypersons from parishes throughout the Diocese at on November 16 at St. Mary's Cathedral, Fall River.

First presented in 1968, the annual award recognizes members of diocesan parishes for their dedicated service to the Church.

JUBILEE YEAR OF ST. PAUL

Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed the celebration of a Jubilee Year to mark the approximately 2,000th anniversary of the birth of St. Paul. Throughout this Pauline Year, which continues through June 29, 2009, the Pope asks for special focus on the letters of St. Paul, which make up a large part of the New Testament, "to make ever more widely known the immense wealth of the teachings they contain..."
